What Is the Oldest Building in Bermuda?

The State House in St. George’s, built in 1620–1621, is Bermuda’s oldest surviving building, excluding early fortifications. It was Bermuda’s first purpose-built Assembly House and served as the home of the island’s Parliament until the capital moved to Hamilton in 1815. The historic State House stands within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of St. George’s and holds the distinction of being “the oldest British colonial stone building in the western hemisphere”.

Today it is the home of Lodge 200 – established in 1797 making it the oldest Scottish Masonic Lodge outside the British Isles.
